Tips for Living Green

If going green all at once seems like it too much for anyone to accomplish, try making just one new change or adding one new habit each week. You'll be surprised at how it adds up after just a year. To help you get started, here are a few tips compiled from National Geographic.

      1.     Conserve water and energy - Up to 50 percent of the average household's energy consumption goes to heating and cooling the home (National Geographic).

  • Seall all edges and cracks with caulk
  • Install weatherstripping in the doorframe and windowframe.
  • Hang curtains or drapes to limit heat gains in the summer and heat losses in the winter

3.     Buy locally whenever possible - In North America, fruits and vegetables travel an average of 1,500 miles before they reach your dinner table (National Geographic).

4.     Recycle materials whenever you can.
